The Zoo

We took Peyton to the zoo today for the first time. He really seemed to enjoy it! He was scared of the ocelot(a small wild cat), but wasn't scared of any of the other animals. We let him feed the goat, but he didn't really like it because the goat took Peyton's whole and in his mouth! We think his favorite animal was the elephants because he just kept staring at them and even pushed up on me to get higher over the fence so he could see them better. At the end of the day before we left we let Peyton play in the water fountains at the front of the zoo and he loved that!

Busch Gardens

We've taken Peyton to Busch Gardens a few times already this season and each time he has a blast! There are two kiddie areas and Peyton likes them both. There are also other kiddie rides throughout the park that he can ride.
We let him ride the kiddie swings and he almost fell out of the side of it while the ride was going since there was no side straps! We decided that he can only go on rides with one of us or an older kid until he knows to sit still on moving rides!
We went to eat at the Fest Haus and Peyton loved the food and show. He really enjoyed watching the dancing girls!

I love this picture!

I took this with my cell phone yesterday afternoon. Peyton loves to play in the driveway and pick up the gravel, which is what the hand you can't see is doing! I just thought it turned out pretty good and had to share!

Bucket Fun!

Repeatedly today Peyton has put his sand bucket on his head and walked or crawled around with it on his head! He ran into things both walking and crawling and just got up and did it all over again. It's was hilarious to watch!

Blue Bird Gap Farm

Yesterday mom and I took Peyton, Khayleb and Jayden to Blue Bird Gap Farm. I had never been and was very excited! The weather was beautiful and we had a good time. The boys enjoyed using the camera to take pictures of all of the animals and birds at the farm and playing on the playground. We took a picnic lunch with us and really enjoyed it!

Peyton's First Haircut!

Peyton got his first haircut a few days ago. He did a great job! He took the comb from Cara and she let him chew on it while she was cutting his hair. He didn't need too much cut, but he needed around his ears trimmed and the back cleaned up. He did great! When Cara started to use the trimmers, he even wanted to hold them and "help" her!

His haircut makes him look so grown up! What a big boy!

Our trip to Cape Cod

Peyton and I went to the Cape to visit Grandmother for the beginning of spring break. We had a really good time! Peyton did well on the flight up and slept on the bus on the way to the Cape.

Peyton had a blast going through the cabinets and drawers in Grandmother's kitchen! They were very entertaining for him! Peyton even decided to surprise us and take 4, 5 and 6 steps together while we were there! He had taken 1 - 2 steps at home, but never 4! He did it several times while we were visiting. When we were at Beth's house he took 6 steps in a row!

We had a great visit! I only wish we'd have been able to see every one.

We knew it was just a matter of time!

Patrick and I knew it was only a matter of time before Peyton would go into DJ's kennel! He's been playing outside of it and with the door for a while now, but the other night, he decided to throw his block into the kennel. Of course he HAD to go in after it! I think he thought it was funny!

Peyton's First Birthday Party!

Peyton had a lot of fun opening his presents! He got a lot of great gifts from everyone! Now if we could only figure out where to put it all!

Erin came home for the party. It was great to see her, just wish she could have stayed longer!

I got each of the kids a bucket and wrote their names on them. They each got to collect 10 easter eggs plus a bonus egg with their name on it during the egg hunt. The bonus egg had a gold dollar coin for each kid. They really enjoyed it! It was sweet, because each of the older kids were told they could only get ten and when they collected more than their share, they gave them to the younger kids.

We all had "John Deere" green on for the event!
We had a chocolate John Deere cake for the party, but got Peyton is own little cake to demolish! When we gave the cake to Peyton, he didn't know what to do at first. He played with the icing until we sliced into the cake. He ate some, but really wasn't too interested in eating much of it.

Finally - Nice Weather!

This past weekend was gorgeous, so we decided to take advantage! We took Peyton out in the backyard and let him practice climbing up the stairs of the porch and crawl around in the grass. He even decided to try chewing on an acorn shell! He had a lot of fun and of course slept great Sunday night!

Peyton's Birthday Present

We ordered Peyton a New York Yankee toy box for his birthday and decided to put it together and put it in his room already! He loves putting things in and taking things out of all sorts of things, so naturally, he loved playing in his toy box! Plus, we were running out of room for all of his little toys!

I've started giving Peyton a fork during dinner. He mostly just plays with it, but occasionally he surprises me and puts it in his mouth. Once he even put food on it and then put it in his mouth! He's not ready for a plate yet, since he still likes to pick it up and dump all his food everywhere. He'll get there!

SNOW!

Well it took me 15 minutes to get Peyton dressed just to go outside for 5 minutes! He's not feeling all that well today, so I'm not reallly sure if he liked the snow or not, but at least I was able to get some pictures of him in the snow!

Peyton couldn't move around too easily since he had on sweat pants, overalls, a fleece jumper and his winter coat, but he made do! The look on his face says get me off of this stuff, but he never cried!

Peyton's cellphone

Peyton always like to try and get our cellphones, so Patrick gave him one of his old ones to play with. He loves pushing the buttons and making it light up!

Where's mine?

I just thought this was too cute not to post! Peyton likes to get as close to DJ while he eats as he can.

Drinking from a real sippy cup!

We started giving Peyton a sippy cup a few months ago, but the doctor suggested that we go back to just a bottle to ensure that he was drinking enough. Well, I wanted to start the transition to a sippy cup, but Peyton hasn't really been taking to any of the cups we've tried. Yesterday I tried this one again and he drank from it! He drank some milk from it again this morning, so we may have found one that works!

Sharing Daddy's Breakfast

Peyton loves to share Daddy's breakfast...especially when it's cinnamon toast! Yummy!

A Basketball Fan

After the game the kids were allowed to play on the court. Peyton wanted to hang from the hoop once he got his hands on it!

Peyton loved crawling around the floor after the basketball. At one point he was going so fast that he fell over!
The boys: Jayden watched intently while the game was going on, anxiously waiting for his turn to play, while Khayleb played with the jump ropes.
Peyton actually sat on Patrick's lap and watched the game for a little while. Then he realized that he it would be more fun to crawl around the floor.

Peyton's New Toys

Yesterday while I was doing dishes, Peyton decided to take a spoon out of the dishwasher and start playing with it. He chewed on it and carried it around with him for a little while. He even took another spoon out of the dishwasher today and did the same thing, except today he decided to also use it as a drumstick on the plates in the dishwasher!

Peyton has found our shelf of DVDs and has started pulling them off the shelves for fun. When we tell him "no" and try to move him away from the DVDs he just smiles because he thinks it's a game. I can't believe how much he gets into already and he's not even walking yet!

Grilled Cheese...Yummy!

I took these pictures and thought they were too cute not to share! Peyton had grilled cheese for dinner tonight and he loved it! He didn't even drop any in his lap! :-)

Storytime at the Library

Well, yesterday we had our first ever snow day with no snow! The school system cancelled school because snow was in the forecast, but it never came. This did however, give me the chance to spend another day with Peyton and take him to storytime at the library with "Aunt" Tracey and the kids.
Peyton loves to listen to stories and I've been wanting to take him, but it's always when I'm at work, so this "snow day" worked out great! When we first got there, there were toys set out for the children to play with, so I let Peyton crawl around on the floor and play. When it was time for story time, the librarian came out and started singing a clean up song and everyone helped clean up. She then led the children/parents in several songs.

After the songs, she read the story. Peyton sat on my lap and listened with very little wiggling! After the story the librarian passed out puppets of the characters so that the children could help her retell/act-out the story as she read it again. The first time Peyton was the goat and the second time he was the chicken (We actually stayed for both the 9:30 and 10:30 story times.)! After story time Peyton played and crawled around on the floor some more.

We even checked out two library books and 3 Baby Einstein DVDs. It was great getting to go to story time with "Aunt" Tracey and the kids and I really hope we get to go again soon!

Peyton and DJ

I had several people ask me where the pictures of DJ are, so here you go! Peyton and DJ love each other! DJ is costantly kissing Peyton and Peyton gets really excited when he sees DJ. Peyton crawls over to DJ's bed while he's sleeping in it and DJ just sits there and licks Peyton!
